A Way To A Happier, Healthier, Better You

In all of our lives there is something that sets us off, triggers a negative response in us. It may be our children, a husband, a neighbor or co-worker, the dog, the traffic. Sometimes the combination of events in our live may overwhelm us.

For twenty years I have suffered from Bipolar Disorder, a chronic form of depression in which there is no cure. I have sat in the dark for many nights, sobbing so loudly that I’m sure the whole neighborhood could hear me. I had a constant and strong desire to commit suicide and even attempted to do so on January 2, 2004.

Things came to a head and I felt there was no other way out. I was tired of the every day struggles and strife that came with it. My daughter and I were in constant turmoil with each other. My finances were terrible and there seemed be no hope of them getting better with an impending lay-off that was scheduled for May 2004. Things escalated and I no longer wanted to face the issues. Instead, I became weak emotionally to the point that suicide seemed the only way out.

There are many things that lead to depression:

Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Inability to Solve Problems

Sexual Assualt or Abuse

Domestic Violence and Abuse

Financial Devastation

Divorce or Marital Problems

Problems with Children or Family

Loss of a Loved One (Grief)

Unemployment

This List goes on an on. If depression is ignored and left untreated, suicide could result. In 1997 30,535 American committed suicide making this the 8th leading cause of death. It is the 2nd leading cause of death for those under the age of 25.

Some signs and symptoms of depression are as follows:

Endless Bouts of Crying

Loss of interest in hobbies and every day activities

Loss of Appetite

Loss of Energy

Change in Sleeping Patterns

Irritability an Constant Mood Swings

Thoughts of Suicide

I sought medical attention for my depression throughout the years. I saw numerous pyschiatrists and psychologists. I was placed on twenty or more different medications for both depression and mood swings. Recently I was forced to go off medication as I lost my insurance, and could not be accepted through the Mental Health and Mental Retradation funding program because I exceeded their income requirement.

I was at a loss as what to do. So I did the only thing I could do. I turned my life and my situation over to God. He has made a drastic change in my life. By placing God first in my life, I have gone from suicidal to wanting to live, to spread the word on how God can make a difference in your life to.

The purpose and intent of this book is to share parts of my life’s experiences with you. To share with you intimate thoughts, and to show how you, too, can put God first in your life and, by making minor changes to your lifestyle, you can begin to live a happier, healther, better life.

What you will need to begin this short course:

A Bible (any version you prefer) I prefer one in modern day English so that it is understandable

Two Blank Journal Books (1 is your Prayer Journal and 1 is your Meditation Journal)

Plenty of Ink Pens

30 minutes to 1 hour of quiet time per each session

This is the exact process that I tought myself in order to overcome my outer weaknesses and to gain internal strength.

Now you are ready to begin. I wish you the best of luck.
