Characters

Rus Lane - An upstanding police officer in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. He’d been ambushed and shot in the line of duty. He was certain it was no accident.

Callie Martin - After losing her son to Leukemia, she moves clear across the continent to Ft Lauderdale, Florida. If she had expected people there to be friendly, boy was she mistaken.

Ricky Lane - At fifteen, he spiralled out of control. His mother had abandoned him and he was determined to destroy his life one way or another. No matter who it hurt.

Synopsis

After two years of solitude after the death of her only son, Callie Martin is ready to go back to work. Even if it was clear across the country in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She hadn’t known what to expect, but the minute she arrived she was met with hositility. Hositlity from a man name Rus Lane.

Rus Lane despises Callie Martin. She is the reason he’s been reassigned to a desk job. A job he hates with a passion. Not only that, he has been assigned to work directly beside the woman every day, in order to set up the new Juvenile Division of the police department.

He couldn’t see working one hour with this woman, much less put in a full days job. How was he ever going to survive?

Callie didn’t like Rus Lane much more than Rus Lane liked her. He was arrogant, presumed to know everything, and had a grudge against all women. Herself included.

One thing about Rus Lane, though. He was an outstanding father. This was a trait that Callie found admirable. It wasn’t something she found in a lot of men these days. In her line of work, most men didn’t care about their children, or their welfare.

But Rus was struggling to keep his family together. He didn’t know it yet, but Callie could help him do just that. If only he would let her.

It wouldn’t be easy. But Callie was up to the challenge. Was Rus?
